How suburb comparison works

This tool loads 2021 Census data for each suburb you pick and places the key metrics side by side. Where one suburb scores higher on a metric where higher is better, like household income or SEIFA decile, it is shown in green. For metrics where lower is better, like unemployment rate, the lower value is highlighted. All figures come from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and ACARA, with the same methodology as the individual suburb pages.

Pop in two suburbs from anywhere in Australia. You can compare across states, across cities, or pick two neighbouring suburbs to see how they differ on income, housing, schooling catchments, and socio-economic advantage. When you share the URL, both suburbs travel with it, so you can bookmark or send comparisons straight from the address bar.
